AIA MIAMI BOARD ANNOUNCES

The Board of Directors names Helene Combs Dreiling, FAIA as Interim Executive Director.

Organizational leader Helene Combs Dreiling, FAIA will serve AIA Miami as Interim Executive Director starting July 1. “AIA Miami is experiencing strong momentum thanks to the leadership of its Board of Directors,” says Dreiling. “I look forward to advancing that positive trajectory, working closely with the board to enrich the individual member experience, enhance a broader awareness of architects, and elevate the crucial design issues of our time.”

Founder and President of The Three Aspens, Ltd., Dreiling has followed a career path largely beyond the bounds of traditional architectural practice, specializing in organizational culture and strategic direction for design-related non-profits and private firms. In addition to leading AIA Virginia on two occasions as interim Executive Vice President, she has served in several prominent not-for-profit settings including Interim Executive Director of the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) and as a staff team vice president for the AIA. Dreiling’s volunteer leadership for the profession culminated in her being elected to serve as President of the American Institute of Architects in 2014.

“I speak for the entire board in expressing our gratitude to Helene for stepping in to shepherd AIA Miami at this crucial moment,” said President Jameson MacNichol, AIA. “Her vast knowledge of the AIA as well as her experience as a leader will propel our organization to the next level of member service and support. As we search for the next full-time Executive Director, we are pleased to have someone of Helene’s stature as our key partner in this transition.”
