As we head into our final week of AIM Architects in the Making Summer Camp, we’re taking a moment to look back on all the unforgettable memories we’ve made together.

Gabriela DePillis

Gabriela is from Buenos Aires, Argentina. She came to Miami in the summer of 1999 with 2 suitcases and lots of hope. She finished her bachelors in business at FIU while also working as a waitress in South Beach. After she completed her bachelors she started her career in sales. She has been in sales for 18 years now.

Gabriela started with Soprema as Roofing Sales Specialist 10 years ago. It has been a challenging learning curb but one of the most rewarding at the same time. Some of the projects she’s worked are Porsche building, Hard Rock Hotel and Armani Residences. On her personal side, she has a 17 years old son and share the same passion for skiing.

It is an honor for Gabriela to be part of the board of AIA Miami. She says she is at a point of her career that she could bring value to the association. She is a good team player that can interact and work with groups with different personalities.

Lourdes Solera, FAIA, NOMA, RID is a Principal at MCHarry & Associates, with 30+ years of professional practice. Lourdes' experience in both the private and public sector has given her a clear understanding of the intricate relationships and coordination needed to successfully deliver projects that fulfill the client’s needs and budget. Her firm focuses on public agency clients; and she focuses on educational projects as well as historic preservation & restoration.

Lourdes is highly regarded as an architect committed to both public service and advancing the cause of architecture. She has been a dedicated leader at the American Institute of Architects (AIA) for many years leading the institute in many positions. Including AIA Florida President in 2022, AIA Miami President in 2004 and was elevated to the AIA College of Fellows in 2012. She is co-founder of AIA Miami’s Women in Architecture Committee and founder of AIA Florida’s Women in Architecture Committee. Through her activities, Lourdes has elevated the public awareness of the power of design and the influence of architects through leadership and community initiatives.

Lourdes holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Mississippi State University and has a Master of Architectural History from the University of Virginia. She is a Florida registered Architect, Florida Registered Interior Designer and a LEED Accredited Professional with the U.S. Green Building Council.

We are incredibly proud to celebrate one of our very own — Zamorah Barley, an AIM and BAM @bam.miami student at Design and Architecture Senior High @dashschool , who has been awarded a Full Scholarship to Cornell University's City Visionaries Summer Program — a $13,000 value with no tuition due!

This five-week program, hosted by Cornell's prestigious College of Architecture, Art, and Planning (AAP) in New York City, gives high school students the opportunity to explore architecture, urban design, and the future of cities through real-world challenges and hands-on design studios.

Soleste on the Bay is a 28-story mixed-use tower in the final stages of construction in North Miami Beach, located in close proximity to Oleta River State Park. Developed by The Estates Companies, the project is a sister development to the nearby 23-story mixed-use property to the north.

The building comprises 363 residential units and more than 14,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space along Biscayne Boulevard. A comprehensive amenity program includes two swimming pools, a spinning studio and game room, a 2,400+ SF fitness center, a 1,400+ SF spa, a 1,400 SF bar and lounge, and over 10,600 SF of recreation space across the 9th-floor deck and rooftop. The structure features a 21-story tower above an 8-story podium with a parking garage accommodating over 600 spaces. Project completion is anticipated in summer 2026.
