SUMMARY:High-Performance Returns in Florida: Resilience Drives Value\, Efficiency\, and Capital
DESCRIPTION:South Florida’s development landscape is being reshaped by the realities of extreme weather. The impacts of heat stress\, flooding pressures\, and rising insurance costs are changing how owners and developers think about building performance\, asset durability and community design. \nResilience is increasingly becoming the driver of this conversation. When integrated early in the design and development process\, resilient and high-performance building strategies can significantly improve operational efficiency\, reduce energy demand\, lower operating costs\, and help stabilize insurance premiums. These outcomes are shaping how developers evaluate projects\, how investors assess portfolios\, and how assets compete in rapidly evolving markets. \nThe newest generation of building performance frameworks places resilience at the center of development strategy. LEED v5 integrates climate resilience\, energy performance\, and operational durability into a unified framework that helps projects optimize building systems\, enhance occupant well-being\, and strengthen long-term asset value. \nThis forum explores how resilience-driven design is shaping the next generation of South Florida real estate – through the lens of Resilience as the economic driver: Operational efficiency\, Insurance considerations\, and asset performance. \nAIA Members: 50% OFF — Use Code FRM26PARTNERS

SUMMARY:2026 AIM Summer Camp Program
DESCRIPTION:Registration now open. Space is very limited! \nAt AIM\, our mission is to inspire young minds by building a creative foundation through the universal language of architecture and design. This fun and engaging two-week summer camp offers students an immersive exploration of the field of architecture through the lenses of art\, history\, mathematics\, science\, and hands-on experimentation. Field trips\, guest speakers and other fun activities round out the student’s day. Enrollment is limited\, particularly due to a high number of returning campers\, so early registration is strongly encouraged. Students are organized into age-based studios\, beginning with Studio 1 for ages 8–10 and progressing through Studio 4 for older students. Classes are led by licensed architects and architecture students and are designed to be fun\, challenging\, and intellectually engaging. Now in its 20th year\, this program is proudly offered in partnership with a University School of Architecture. \nLearn More Register \n\nField Trips: \nJune 17: Freedom Tower Tour\nJune 24: Sandblast Competition / Crandon Park / Shelter 7 \n\nSponsorship Opportunities \nArchitects in the Making is AIA Miami’s youth educational program comprised of local volunteer leading architects. Whether it is a tax on architectural services\, statewide code changes\, or the legislative review of architects’ licensure requirements\, the Florida Legislature addresses issues that can cost you plenty. \nArchitecture is among the most highly regulated — and most complex — professions of any field. By investing in FAPAC\, you raise the level of awareness of architects in the political process. Additionally\, you can help elect lawmakers who are supportive of your political agenda\, and most importantly\, understand the nature of your profession. \nIn recent years\, FAPAC has targeted candidates that have made a difference. Through our political efforts and local input\, we contributed to candidates who were major players and were elected. \nRegister \n\nSPONSORSHIP \nBowling for a cause. Some include bowling\, and all include access to the event. Join us. \nSponsor the Event \n\n
