SUMMARY:2026 AIM Summer Camp Program
DESCRIPTION:Registration now open. Space is very limited! \nAt AIM\, our mission is to inspire young minds by building a creative foundation through the universal language of architecture and design. Field trips\, guest speakers and other fun activities round out the student’s day. Enrollment is limited\, particularly due to a high number of returning campers\, so early registration is strongly encouraged. Students are organized into age-based studios\, beginning with Studio 1 for ages 8–10 and progressing through Studio 4 for older students. Classes are led by licensed architects and architecture students and are designed to be fun\, challenging\, and intellectually engaging. Now in its 20th year\, this program is proudly offered in partnership with a University School of Architecture. \nLearn More Register \n\nField Trips: \nJune 17: Freedom Tower Tour\nJune 24: Sandblast Competition / Crandon Park / Shelter 7 \n\nSponsorship Opportunities \nArchitects in the Making is AIA Miami’s youth educational program comprised of local volunteer leading architects. SUMMARY:High-Performance Returns in Florida: Resilience Drives Value\, Efficiency\, and Capital
DESCRIPTION:South Florida’s development landscape is being reshaped by the realities of extreme weather. The impacts of heat stress\, flooding pressures\, and rising insurance costs are changing how owners and developers think about building performance\, asset durability and community design. \nResilience is increasingly becoming the driver of this conversation. When integrated early in the design and development process\, resilient and high-performance building strategies can significantly improve operational efficiency\, reduce energy demand\, lower operating costs\, and help stabilize insurance premiums. These outcomes are shaping how developers evaluate projects\, how investors assess portfolios\, and how assets compete in rapidly evolving markets. \nThe newest generation of building performance frameworks places resilience at the center of development strategy. LEED v5 integrates climate resilience\, energy performance\, and operational durability into a unified framework that helps projects optimize building systems\, enhance occupant well-being\, and strengthen long-term asset value. \nThis forum explores how resilience-driven design is shaping the next generation of South Florida real estate – through the lens of Resilience as the economic driver: Operational efficiency\, Insurance considerations\, and asset performance. \nAIA Members: 50% OFF — Use Code FRM26PARTNERS

SUMMARY:Total Design and ADA in Restrooms presented by Carr Company/TOTO
DESCRIPTION:On average\, people use the restroom six times per day. Restrooms in a building largely reflect the design decisions you make. The purpose of this course is to make the case that a comprehensive design approach that integrates ADA design requirements\, Universal design strategies\, and WELL initiatives provides an inherently accessible and healthier restroom space for all users. “Total design” encompasses all design practices that include a wide spectrum of usage for all people. Isolating these design concepts into labels or “specialties”\, prevent them from being incorporated into good design practices. \nDownload Additional Information [PDF]

SUMMARY:The Science Behind: Flood Resistant Glass presented by Kuraray/Fenex
DESCRIPTION:Earn 2.0 AIA HSW Credits \nSpeaker: Allan Gibson and Hector Luis Noguera Montilla \nFlooding remains one of the most costly and disruptive natural hazards impacting buildings today. As extreme weather events increase\, architects\, façade consultants\, developers\, and contractors must rethink how glazing systems contribute to resilient design. \nJoin Kuraray and FENEX for a 90-minute technical webinar exploring how laminated glass systems are engineered and specified to perform as flood-control solutions. \nSession 1: Flood Control Using Laminated Safety Glass\nAllan Gibson will examine how laminated glass functions as a flood-mitigation element\, including interlayer selection\, hydrostatic pressure performance\, debris resistance\, and critical engineering considerations such as anchorage\, deflection\, and post-breakage retention. \nSession 2: Flood-Resilient Design in Architecture\nHector Noguera will introduce dry floodproofing strategies and demonstrate how flood-resistant glazing systems are tested\, integrated\, and specified within architectural design. \nThrough real-world case studies\, including NYU Langone\, the Museum of Jewish Heritage in NYC and International projects\, you’ll gain practical insight into permanent flood defense strategies\, system testing requirements\, and specification best practices. \nWhat You’ll Learn: \n\nHow flood risks translate into building performance requirements\nHow laminated glass and advanced interlayers enhance flood resilience\nHow dry floodproofing works and when to specify it\nEngineering and structural considerations for flood-resistant glazing
