The University of Miami School of Architecture LU_Lab Presents: Wood and Everything After
01 Industry Critical Systems
ECOLOGY, ENERGY AND ECONOMICS
As the demand of mass timber and solid wood is increasing for large scale construction, a strategic plan must be implemented in order to ensure supply and minimize environmental impacts. This tract will focus on the interrelationship between the environment and the economy of the wood industry.
02 Making
MATERIAL, TECTONIC AND BUILDING TECHNOLOGIES
This discussion involves everything between wood utilization through the construction of a building to challenging antiquated and often compartmentalized practices. Through advancements in building technologies and industrial processes, a new trajectory for wood in the built environment could be implemented.
03 Design
A RETROSPECTIVE AND PROJECTIVE DIALOGUE
Tract three, retrospective and projective design will engage the questions of how we got here, where did we come from, and where it is we think we are going. Architecture of wood will be the lens through which we explore these questions.
