The Illuminate Coral Gables exhibition will turn the streets, historic buildings, and public spaces of Coral Gables into a brilliant outdoor museum. With downtown Coral Gables, FL as a three-dimensional canvas, this first-of-its-kind exhibition will fill our beautiful city with newly commissioned and existing works by world-renowned local artists and emerging virtuosos.
From Lance Fung, the curator of the event:
Illuminate Coral Gables will be a world-class art exhibition placing art throughout downtown Coral Gables in January and February 2021. The video projections, sculptures and art installation are inspired by and created for specific indoor and outdoor locations and on view to the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week without admission fees. What will set Illuminate Coral Gables apart from all other exhibitions is the intentional use of light to transform beautiful and thought provoking public art by day into magical and mysterious work at night. The annual exhibition will provide a sense of joy & discovery while also educating those interested in learning about contemporary art and issues relevant to all of us. The artists will range from internationally revered art icons to recently discovered local artists and naturally be fully inclusive to highlight the unique spirit, energy and nature of Coral Gables.
Currently, Lance is curating the first exhibition which will unveil on January 15 – 18, 2021. Find out more about the Fung Collaboratives at www.fungcollaboratives.com.
