Becky Magdaleno Named AIA Florida EVP

Becky Magdaleno, CAE, AIA Florida’s chief operating officer, is the new executive vice president and CEO of the association. Magdaleno follows the 17-year tenure of EVP/CEO Vicki L. Long, CAE, Hon. AIA, who will retire Oct. 1.”Even after a national search, we found the best candidate right here at home. We are fortunate to be able to have a continuity of leadership in the AIA Florida pipeline,” said AIA Florida President Ignacio J. Reyes, AIA, who led the search committee that chose Magdaleno. “We are just as fortunate to have had the leadership of Vicki for so many years. It is because of her that AIA Florida is as successful and stable as it is today, and we thank her for her service to the profession.”Magdaleno has served AIA Florida since 2011. During her time with the association, she has overseen the development of the local component management program and has been instrumental in executing milestone events such as the 100th anniversary of AIA Florida, the development of a mobile app and more, earning the component several national excellence awards.She served as the president of the AIA Council of Architectural Component Executives (CACE) in 2019, collaborating with fellow CACE members and AIA staff to develop an informative CACE Annual Meeting with accompanying resources to assist staff across the country in leading components. Magdaleno also served on the AIA Strategic Council in 2019 and the AIA National Board of Directors in 2020, as well as on numerous committees and task forces for the institute. In 2015, she received the CACE Emerging Leader Award.Magdaleno is a graduate of Florida State University, where she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa and the Senior Hall of Fame. She lives in Tallahassee with her husband, David, and daughter, Sofia.“I look forward to working with Becky and the rest of AIA Florida’s staff through a seamless transition that will allow us to hit the ground running next year,” said AIA Florida President-elect Lourdes Solera, FAIA. “With her in charge, our association won’t miss a beat.”
