Sarah Malebranche, Assoc. AIA, is no stranger to trying new things. Indeed, Malebranche, AIA Miami member and architectural project manager for [STRANG] Design, speaks four languages, once auditioned for American Idol, and recently started AIA Miami’s Hard Hat Committee, which coordinates guided hard hat tours allowing members to get a better understanding of the projects under construction in Miami.
“As much as I love managing high-end residential architectural projects, I also enjoy being out in the field and learning from a construction site,” she says. “My objective is to learn from our city.” She is not shy about encouraging emerging professionals to do the same.
“Getting involved will allow emerging professionals to make lasting connections with the leaders in our community…to attend lectures, ask questions, to grow personally and professionally,” she offers.
Malebranche says her favorite parts of the architectural process are a project’s schematic design and design development phases, but adds that she also appreciates construction administration.
“(It’s) where the project comes to life. Realizing a client’s wish for the place they will call their home is challenging, yet rewarding,” she says. “This phase always allows me to grow professionally and learn during the inevitable problem solving period.”
